When you make update to parts in a assembly, is there a way to get the assembly to update without closing , and opening it back up. Regen Assembly does not seem to work.

    Thanks,
    Fred

If you 'Edit Here' or 'Edit in Separate Window', yes the assembly updates when you return to root assembly, or close the separate window.

If you opened the part file separately to edit it, not only will the assembly not update, but you risk losing your changes unless you know exactly what you are doing.

Hi Fred -- DavidJ's statement is the truism. A file edited outside the context of an Assembly does not "regenerate" until that Assembly is "closed" and "re-opened." RMB "click" on the Part in the Assembly Model and select the "Edit in a Separate Window" option. When you have made the needed changes, use "Ctrl-W" to exist the Part Model. You will need to Save the Assembly Model to get the changes made to the Part Model to ve Saved. Hopefully this makes sense to you. -- Lew
