    Someone explain this:

    http://www.lista.it/alibre/NURBSvsFDWhitePaper.pdf
"Free Design’s free-form modeler is one of the additions in Alibre Design Expert 9.2. This program includes features that handle all aspects of product development, from conceptualization, presentation and output, to production. N-Sided Surfacing (NSS) technology for surface generation and control removes the restrictions of 4-sided surfaces prevalent with NURBS and Bezier methods."

The old Alibre company partnered with a lot of different software developers to bundle compatible software with Alibre Design over the years.

It looks like FreeDesign software no longer exists.

If you're looking for semi-organic design I've heard great things about MoI 3d (Moment of Inspiration).

I understand. Personally I prefer Rhinoceros 3D which has a lot of more Engineering Capabilities.

May be has a lot of freeform capabilities but is lack in free and professional add-in.
The problem is that the big Software companies are buying add-on faster like Autodesk and Dassault Systèmes. Thinking only in Algor Design Check..... I buy AD for this, nothing more....and now is part of Autodesk, so What will happens with AD if don't have a independent add-in Software?
Look this that is another example this time of Dassault Systèmes: Surface Works.

So, if AD will concentrate only in develop is own software but for a Product Design it needs good add-in. I like the old direction that make add-in a just basic version like Design Check leaving its customers free to access from this bottom to something more sophisticated according to the requirement, but this add-in is integrated in a package that gives knowledge, recommendation of people who understand engineering from AD, so their clients can later without fear invest more from that base.
I do not if you understand. AD no only is a base software and marketing, must be a family that support its client from base add-on.
For example Why FEM design is no jet part of AD as base?

For other side, AD need urgent in 3D workspace (3D DesignSpace) a Surface development to achieve fantastic Parametric form and of course, better loft capabilities. (Support give me hopeful answer from this). For myself this two thinks will be a big achievement like AlibreScript & AlibreGrid from Wizotools.
Less Graphics Cosmetic things an more Parts and Assemblies with less bites weights and more accuracy at the same time in one file.
I hope you understand my point of view.
    Regards,
    GIOV
